Easy Low Budget DIY Solar Power Installation - Part 4 #cost #breakdown

In this video I wire up some XT60 connectors, making it a simple task changing over to the new solar charge controller. I then review the solar charge controller and do a final cost breakdown where we run through the financials and see just how low budget this DIY installation really is.

• Not mentioned in the video. The cables connecting the battery to the inverter, I used the ones that came with the inverter. The cost of the copper bus bars, I just used some scrap I had lying around, otherwise you need to purchase some 3/8" or 10mm pipe. Tools, solder and sundries, these are things you should already have handy if your keen on a bit of DIY.

My XT60 quick connectors are a good idea, but you should still install a main solar panel switch, this is a key safety feature that the fire department would be looking for in case of emergency. I'll add one in a future video.

Don't take my word or other YouTubers word on anything. Talk to a qualified electrician if you have any serious questions, preferably one who has a least done home solar installations. A few questions and discussion about the subject can help you make your installation a lot safer and save you a lot of money buying inadequate or unnecessary things.
