Does the MongoDB License Threaten the Future of the Gnu Public License?
MongoDB, a for profit company, released the MongoDB as open source. The problem is, many large companies are using the software without providing their changes to the source code, per the AGPL v3 license.
MongoDB has decided to create a new license, which is similar to the AGPL v3 license, but requires the purchase of a commercial license if a company does not wish to publish their source code alterations of MondoDB.
Will this help MondoDB rake in the cash, or will it ultimately threaten to weaken the GNU General Public License?
