Compromising Posture Limits Power
Rich Graham
Brief except from our training with corrections officers last week as we were discussing different ways to control and restrain inmates when they were being non-compliant. A fundamental principal in Combatives is, where the head goes the body follows. A few key points in support of this principal are: -Turn the head so the spine is not in alignment all facing forward in its natural position -Tilt the head in any direction so the spine is curved and does not have straight posture -Pull the head offline of the hips and feet so they are off balance When we do these 3 things we compromise the persons ability to generate force and give ourselves the advantage to move and or control them more effectively.
