The Sermon

Gather round! Gather round, and rejoice. The Lord giveth’ and the Lord taketh’. You know this well, and you have come to know both. The price he exacts and the gifts he brings. These last years have been a challenge of great proportion. You have all been tried, you have all been tested, you have all known pain, for this is his way. It is easy to find oneself yearning for a simpler time. The warm, comforting blanket of the past. We hath enjoyed the delights of his creation, time and time again. We hath quoted the gospel to one another. We hath adorned his garments in the Autumn months. And how it brought us all together in harmony. But, we ought’ know well that no state is permanent. No memory doth not fade. No flower doth not wilt. The sun sets on yesterday, it rises on tomorrow. And accept this we must. We must know it in our hearts to be essential and true. We kiss the hand of “then” before setting it free, we welcome “now” with a loving embrace. We cast our eyes on the great beauty of these scenes, and the great melodies that do score them. We forgive the sins of the one punished in his twilight and show unbridled appreciation for his new dawn. Bow your heads now, in accordance with our new reality, our new wisdom, our new truth.
