In this video , we are going to learn the common and ignored function i.e. TEXT Function.

A Text Function in Excel is a very useful tool for creating formatted lists of numbers or text strings. Text Functions are used to convert numeric values to text formatted by the user. Text Functions can be used with dates, too! If you want to format a date, you can use the Date Formatting function in Excel. Text Functions even have their own asterisk character (*) that will produce an item list when entered into the value argument of TEXT function! However, you have to be aware that a Text Function's result cannot be used for calculation.

First, let's see the syntax and arguments of text strings as follows;

=TEXT(Value you want to format, "Format code you want to apply")

The value you want to format can be Text or Number.

Format code is a character string that contains the formatting information, such as "General" for General number formatting with no thousands of separators and leading zeros; "Currency" for Currency with thousand separators but not leading zeros; etc...

When displaying dates and numbers, use the TEXT Function in Excel. This function allows you to convert numbers and text into formats that are easier to read. You can also use this function for currency conversions. It will even convert a date into a fractional form. For more advanced use, you can even add a comma before a number and display it as a decimal.
