In this video, we are going to learn 6 Lookup function in excel namely Vlookup, HLookup, Xlookup, Match, Index and Choose with basic practical examples. These functions are used for various purposes such as analysing your worksheet or sorting data.
The first lookup function that we will learn is VLOOKUP. This function helps you find a value from the leftmost column of a table based on matching values from the row you specify. It returns information from the corresponding cell in the column you specify. In other words, it retrieves data from an item's vertical position on a table to its horizontal position on another table!
VLOOKUP (lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, [range_lookup])
lookup_value : This is the value that you want to find.
table_array : The worksheet range or table where you are looking for a match, this must include column headers in the first row. If your lookup values are in rows below your data, enter FALSE here and use HLOOKUP instead of VLOOKUP
The second lookup function that we will learn is HLookup. This function helps you find a value from the topmost row of a table based on matching values from the column you specify. It returns information from the corresponding cell in the row you specify.
HLOOKUP (lookup_value, table_array, row_index_num, [range_lookup])
lookup_value : This is the value that you want to find.
table_array : The worksheet range or table where you are looking for a match, this must include column headers in the first row. If your lookup values are in rows below your data, enter FALSE here and use HLOOKUP instead of VLOOKUP
row_index_jnum : The row number in the table_array where you want to find your match.
The third lookup function that we will learn is XLookup. This function helps you find a value from an Excel table based on matching values in two columns instead of one like VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP.
XLOOKUP (lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, [range_lookup])
lookup_value : This is the value that you want to find.
table_array : The worksheet range or table where you are looking for a match, this must include column headers in the first row. If your lookup values are in rows below your data, enter FALSE here and use HLOOKUP instead of VLOOKUP
col_index_num : The column number in the table_array where you want to find your match.
range_lookup: This is an optional argument that can be TRUE or FALSE. If it is set to TRUE, Excel will look for an exact match. If it is FALSE, Excel will look for the clo ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE7IfVogy3I
