The latest restoration project revealed another dangerous situation in that the Grundig 90U uses an auto-transformer, which, if a non-polarised mains plug is used, can cause the chassis to be at mains LIVE potential. Ouch! In many parts of Europe, the mains plugs are in fact non-polarised. This means that you have a 50/50 chance of getting a nasty electric shock, depending on which way around you fit in the mains plug. I've come across many of these before, but wanted to build an early warning system right into the mains plug to avoid the danger. This should be fun. Enjoy.
