A few projects ago I restored a Grundig Satellit 2100, which turned out really well. I mentioned then that I’d think about building an external BFO (beat frequency oscillator) to permit me to listen to Amateur Band SSB comms. This is my first attempt at it, using PCB’s I ordered from PCBWay.

After the mandatory research on the web, I found a schematic which I believe will do the trick. The website describing a build of this project (including a link to a YouTube video) is listed below. I want to thank the gentleman for the information. I’m quite aware of how tricky oscillators can be when they want to mis-behave, and this one was not a disappointment. The build on the breadboard went OK, but the results from building a more stable version on the PCB was … well, see for yourself.
