With two pentodes and one triode in the same envelope, this tube is designed with an incredible feature that makes it so special. Its triode serves as a phase inverter, producing an exact inverted replica of the input signal and feeding it to the second pentode, thus creating the two signals required for a push-pull output stage. I was amazed by this clever design and the fascinating history behind it. I was also fortunate to find both rare and expensive ECLL800 in top working condition. As usual, a lot of research was done, and I found the design idea described in an article in a 1964 magazine, describing an amplifier called the '7-20 Stereo Amplifier' that was based on the then 'new' ECLL800 tube.
