What’s up guys, dvapps here today I will be showing you how to make thumbnails for your YouTube videos using Photoshop. Thumbnails give your viewers a sneak peek of what you will have in your video and also if you have thumbnails it will make people watch your videos, because it looks more professional. Let’s get started:
- Firstly open Photoshop
- Click on file then new
- Make the size 1920 by 1080 make the background content transparent and press ok
- Now you need a background, you can make a rectangle and just put a basic colour, but doesn’t look to good, so what you can do is search Google for a background, you can use a grunge background like this, or a texture background this, a radial background like this, or you could use a gradient background like the one is use in most of my thumbnails.
- Just choose an image you like, then click on view image
- Click on save image as, and save it to your computer
- Then go to Photoshop and click on file then place and place the image you saved
- Now choose the text tool and choose a font, you can get fonts from a website called dafont.com, they have lots of different types of fonts you can download
- I’ll use space comics, a download link to that will be in description, now just type the title to your video, once you’re done, click on the tick here.
- Now right-click on the text layer and click on blending options, you add different effects to the text, I’ll put a gradient overlay of 15 percent and a drop shadow of 100 percent opacity, 0 distance, 40 spread and 50 size, you can experiment around with different effects, once you’re done click on ok
- Now we can add images to the thumbnail, if you are making a tutorial you can add the icon of the software you are using, so for this video it would be Photoshop, so go to Google images and search for the software then png, so Photoshop png, I like a specific style of icons called flat icons, so I’ll just put in flat Photoshop png.
- Once you’ve found an image you like, save it to your computer
- Then go back on Photoshop and go to file then place and place the image you saved
- Now resize it to make it fit and click on the tick
- Now go to blending options once again to add effects I’ll put a drop shadow of 100 percent opacity, 0 distance, 40 spread and 50 size
- Once your done click ok
- We’re done, now to save this, go to file then save and save it as a png o ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Atq7iyTqDGg
