Drone Xcursion - Bavaria
Drone Xcursion
Here's my best footage from my trip to Bavaria Germany. I used a DJI Mavic 2 Pro to get this footage.
Have you ever had one of those moments in life when you realized that everything came together perfectly at just the right moment for something great to happen? That's exactly what happened to me in the city of Oberammergau, where I captured the footage of the huge wood-carved crucifix overlooking the city below. I was on a family vacation in Germany and we hadn't even planned on visiting Oberammergau. We were on a random road trip and only thought to stop there because our Rick Steves guide book suggested eating at the Mexican food restaurant there. We simply wanted some familiar food since we'd been eating mostly German and Italian food thus far. Decent Mexican food is very hard to find in Germany. And decent it was, Pace Picante sauce for salsa and all! HAHA.. Anyhow, we stopped at the restaurant and it was cloudy and drizzly outside. I really wanted to get some footage of this amazing city, but it wasn't looking like it was going to work out. Flying drones in the rain is almost alway a bad idea. I decided to walk down to the riverside and at least take a few pictures while the family ordered food. Just as I got to the river, the rain stopped and the sun streaked through the clouds! It was a magical view of the riverside with the crucifix atop the huge cliff in the background. I snapped a couple of quick pics and decided to fly my Mavic, and I was so glad I did! During the flight I was blown away at the footage I was able to get. The altitude limit of the Mavic is just over 1600 feet and to my surprise, that crucifix was just under the altitude limit of my Mavic! I literally had only maybe 5 feet so spare! During the flight, it did start to drizzle again, but I wasn't about to stop. I was in a zone, getting likely the best footage I had ever recorded thus far. Long story short, everything worked out perfectly and I felt like it worked out only because of divine intervention. The random stop for some Mexican food easily became the highlight of my vacation.
