Why Windows users are switching to Linux?
Desktop Monologues
Linux Mint is a perfect place for newcomers from Windows. Why?
I am one of the new Linux users, as I switched in late August to Linux Mint. I am sure that people back in the day switched to Linux for ideological or even technical reasons. My drive was often ideological, but I didn't switch to Linux for technical reason, which was the lack of apps and games. But a lot of things changed since then.
I believe that people switch to Linux Mint in 2019 and 2020 because:
they detest and reject Microsoft's data mining2. they don't want bloatware
they like gaming
they are tired of Windows Update
Linux is more secure system
more choices to personalize your Linux distro than Windows (flexibility)
Linux works on older hardware
Linux has become a realistic choice as a new desktop OS instead of Windows or MacOS.
It's free and gratis.
The new Linux user is not a hardcore open source software worshiper. He/ she is a pragmatic. They want the best from both worlds. They want seamless Gmail integration and the Facebook access.
