Using Subdivision Surface Modeling in Rhino 6 to make a 3D Printed Boomerang
Design Prototype Test
Mechanism Monday #9 - A complete guide to how I modeled an organic boomerang in Rhino 6 and then 3D printed it before testing it out. I used subdivision surface modeling which is a powerful way to model organic shapes quickly. TSplines is no longer an option in Rhino 6 because Autodesk shut down yet another free piece of software so they could wrap it up with Fusion360. But not to worry, there is an alternative with the "subdfrommesh" command in Rhino 6.
Here is the forum thread where everyone should ask for a little more functionality from the crease function of the subdfrommesh command: https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/subd-for-rhino-6-is-comming/56271/28 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMyEOqrdr3c
