Using big drawing grids and retaining artist mark making. #digitaldrawing #procreate #portraitart

Transcript: Sometimes when working from reference photos in procreate I’ll use a grid. It’s very easy to add the grid in the app by going to the wrench then canvas then toggling the drawing guide button. BUT I want to highlight that I make the grid very very big. Like only 4 squares across the canvas. This is important to me because I just want the grid to replace some of the pencil measurements I would be using if I was working from life. Some of those big measures are hard to capture on such a small screen when the canvas and subject are rotating and zooming in and out. The big grid ensures that I’m taking the small measurements with my pencil as I normally would when working from life and it retains my original mark making. Which to me is the most important thing. Because I want the makers hand to be present. Plus studying and capturing all those details brings me great joy as an artist.

My work provides an optimistic view of technology’s role in shaping our identity and relationships with each other. The subjects are strangers to me, just as they are to the viewer of the finished work. Being a visual artist, I use my eyes to learn about the person, and in the process find commonalities between us. Knitting (a form of binary code) is included because of its continuous flow of fibers that mirrors our interconnectedness as people. These pieces are created using new and old machines. Incorporating technology in the process reflects my life with metal implants; as I am a balance between organic and inorganic so should my art. #drawing #art #knitting #digitalart #digitalartforbeginners #arttiktoks #artandcraft #artist #knittingforbeginners #knittingmachine #knittingdesigns #drawingdog #dogdrawing #artstudio #artstudiotour #portraitart #womandrawing #mandrawing #lifedrawing ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGkkOipo400
