Video transcript: Here’s just how badly Windows 11 is tracking you. The PC Security Channel checked out how much data is being sent out from a fresh install of Windows 11. For this they’ve used a tool called Wireshark which can basically show you what types of data are being sent & exactly where they’re being sent. And they found that a completely fresh install of Windows 11 contacts not only Microsoft servers, but also Steam, McAfee & many other market research companies as well. They also tried the same thing on the 20-year-old Windows XP and that one contacted only official Windows servers. Microsoft said that all the data they collect is disclosed in the terms of service. But I’d argue that pretty much nobody reads those things and they should do something like actually asking for consent instead of just tracking you however they see fit.
