HOW to learn your first foreign LANGUAGE as an ADULT - feat. @MaxEnglishCoach
Couch Polyglot
Max has learned English as his first foreign language as an adult and he is not a polyglot. He actually started in his early twenties as a monolingual speaker of Spanish and he not only managed to learn English, but he was able to reach a proficient level and now he even has his own podcast and his own community.
In this video, Max will share language learning tips, but he will also open up about what his challenges were when getting started and what strategies helped him the most both for effective learning as well as regarding mindset issues.
Max's story shows that it is never too late to learn. Just because you did not learn a language (or something else) as a kid or as a teenager, does not mean that you can not learn it as an adult.
Please make sure to leave a comment and indicate what has helped you the most, what are are your favourite resources, what challenges you've faced and how you personally dealt with them. I would love to learn about your language learning success stories! :)
Here is an overview to navigate the different topics we discussed: 00:00 - Is it the same to learn a language as a polyglot or as a monolingual adult? 01:16 - Is the function of a teacher to TEACH? Does the attitude of the learner matter? 02:05 - How would you act if you were the hero of your own story? 03:34 - How did Max learn his first foreign language as an adult? What did he do? 06:23 - What about community and environment? 07:26 - What to do if you are stuck? 09:03 - What is Max's program about? 11:03 - Where to find more videos with us two :)
