In this video, I talk about the drawbacks of 'hustle and grind' culture and the mentality that comes with all of that.
I experienced this myself when I was growing a social media marketing agency, and got drawn into something that wasn't my passion.
I thought working harder and smarter and faster was the solution, when it only caused more problems, more stress, and sadness.
It wasn't until I stopped running faster and faster, slowed down, that I started to find the answers to the problems I was facing.
I talk about the importance of listening to your intuition, following your heart, which means listening to the emotional messages that are coming up for you within as you move through life.
I talk about the importance of slowing down your tempo, life doesn't have to be a stressful, frantic race, as if running from a raging fire.
When we slow down, give ourselves pause, we can think clearer, we can assess our options more clearly, and act more effectively.
Slowing down brings us back into awareness, calm, grounding, whereas running and racing and being 'productive' shoves us in our head.
Stress is a major cause of illness and even death.
We need to slow down and find a pattern in the maze, so we can start moving in the direction of what we actually want out of life.
I illustrate these themes further by telling the story of a man lost in a maze that's on fire, from the essay 'A Pattern to the Maze' by Charles Eisenstein, one of my favourite authors and thinkers.
