Ubuntu Server 22.04 to Openbox Desktop
COMP7ON
Just geeking out using Ubuntu server 22.04 and putting an Openbox desktop feeling on it. It's light weight and works great. Highly customisable.
command used to add window manager and needed files/apps sudo apt install xorg openbox tint2 obconf xcompmgr lxterminal yad screen lxappearance nitrogen xterm nemo pluma nano lxpolkit firefox rofi
That should get you everything you need to get started on the desktop.
you can substitute nemo for any file manager you like. you can also substitute pluma for a text editor of your choice.
once on the desktop I install lightdm and other tools/apps. I did this to avoid using a user session for openbox. There's a million ways to do it so have at it as you like :) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdMPq7vaqg8
