Quick look at how to make some "useable", Virtual Assets for those HDT/SMP projects in Skyrim SE If I am able to make this work, I can guarantee you, anybody can ...
The biggest thing when making / using, Virtual / Collisom Assets is not so much the mesh itself, but moreso, the way the XML refers to it ie:
per-triangle-shape
as opposed to
per-vertex-shape
Obviously lower poly collision objects will perform a lot better, this is only a rough guide, a starting point for folks to experiment and push buttons :):) #ButtonsAREtoys!
There are a number of tricks one can do inside the .XML of a HDT/SMP item to improve performance and behaviour, and I am still learning these myself.
