Isolation transformer and dim bulb tester

A quick look at my DIY isolation transformer and dim bulb tester. While I don't recommend anyone to make what I have made here specifically, isolation transformers and dim bulb testers should be considered as standard equipment on every test bench. Do plenty of research, gain a good understanding of how these devices work and make sure they are employed before working on any AC circuits. While isolation transformers are not cheap new, if one is resourceful and knows what to look for, you can obtain them at much lower costs than new in an enclosure from the web. Dim bulb testers have been around since hobby electronics started and an effective version can be cobbled together from junk lamps from the local salvage yard if you must, so there really is no excuse not to have one.
