This is a 3d printed projectile that I designed for 40mm low velocity grenade launchers. It is mostly hollow on the inside and very light weight. I also have a design with a hollow cavity on the inside and glue on cap. That version could be used to make a smoke marking round or fill with other pyrotechnics.
In this video I launch the projectile with a 38cal short crimped blank that is commercially available. The blanks fit very loosely in the case and fall out after use. Standard m781 blanks are too powerful and will blow right through the projectile. These blanks are pretty weak and I suspect black powder. I have different power blanks on the way to test in the near future. So stay tuned!
Like and subscribe to spread the video. A couple more rounds of testing and I should have it dialed in. At that point I may try some smoke marking rounds just for fun. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tpATme17sY
