Why do computers use binary? Logic Gates and Transistor Transistor Logic.
ChapmanWorld
Why do computers use binary? How does logic function inside a CPU? How does memory work?
We're about to add arithmetic capabilities to our virtual machine CPU, and so it's important that we understand how these capabilities are made possible inside a real CPU.
In this, first of two videos exploring binary arithmetic, we look at "Logic Gates", the building blocks of all computer logic, made possible by a technology call T.T.L or Transistor-Transistor Logic.

So, I deliberately kept the details of modern transistor technology out of this video. I am not an electronics engineer, and wanted to give a simple, understandable model to get from clockwork/relay computers up to my comfort zone of software as quickly as possible.
I expected that someone might call me out for this, but I hadn't expected it would be a Facebook friend that has his own video series on transistors !
