Microsoft placed a Linux subsystem inside of Windows 10 about a year ago and it has been growing every sense. An upcoming Windows update will have a full Linux kernel available to all users and it will be kept update to date through the Windows system instead of being a separate download. There is an idea that future versions of Windows will simply be a GUI on top of Linux. After all, Microsoft owns GitHub and .Net has been fully removed from Windows with Core 3.1. Is the future of Microsoft as an Open Source software company?
