Minimal Software: Why Not Just Use More Complete Software

So you might wonder why I and many other people choose to use minimal software rather than more complete solutions, for example why use something like the suckless terminal when iterm or urxvt exists if all your going to do is add back a lot of those features. Or why use a window manager like i3 or bspwm when full desktop environments exists. One of the reasons is obviously that ricing is just fun Linux past time but there's plenty of other reasons as well.
