The internet is on fire! A couple of days ago, a Java based vulnerability dubbed Log 4 Shell was discovered and unfortunately, it affects a heck of a lot of things. Essentially, Log4Shell exploits Log4J 2 which is a very common logging library. It allows developers to track all the activities in their apps.
When I said it affects a lot of things, i wasnt kidding. Google, Microsoft, Apple, Cloudflare , Cisco, Amazon and others are all affected. Heck Government websites here in canada have limited usability because of it. Its a pretty big deal. When Exploited, the Hacker can launch a remote code execution, essentially taking control of a system.
Now there is a patch. Mojang for example implemented it for their Java edition. If you’re a player, make sure to restart the entire game client, and if you’re a server host, follow the instructions on the website. Icloud too, patched it, some had fun gaining access to DNS information,But its easy for one app or product to patch the vulnerability. Unfortunately, since it affects so many apps, a single one with the unpatched Log4Shell exploit means you’re totally exposed.
