Modded trickshots in SMW2
Theopold the Gamer
Warning: There's just a little eyestrain in certain points of the video, where the red clouds hit Message Blocks, but it's nothing horrible. Also, significant motion sickness warning at 1:56! I used a level editor called GoldenEgg to mod SMW2, but it's a pretty janky editor. Regardless, I made various small experiments and trickshots with Arrow Clouds and Huffin Puffins. In fact, if you stick around to the end, you'll see I made a Rube Goldberg-ish machine akin to the one I made in YFS. I guess it all comes full circle. I might do more experiments on this game in the future.
TIMESTAMPS: Context - 0:00 Huffin plus Message Block equals brain damage - 0:14 Brain damage trickshot - 1:00 ?-cloud trickshot - 1:17 Egg in a Rube Goldberg machine - 1:35 Egg clears the level without Yoshi - 1:56 Outro - 2:17
This video was inspired by Luigibonus, in that he posted a few messages on the SMC/YFS Discord with videos of what happens to the game if various bosses are put in W1-1. This video is also inspired by ZXMany( the timestamps and an idea of how to format this), Someguy712x( helping me figure out the commentary style), A+Start( for making a video which also involves Huffin/Marshmallow brain damage), and CarlSagan42( emotional suspport). I used the song Sponge Cave Spelunking from YWW for the music. Actually, I should say that all the music you hear during gameplay is from the original vanilla game.
...Hm? You want to know where the door led, and why those odd red clouds were following Yoshi? The door led to a room I created, which contains the mother Huffin, in fact 3 of them! I offered to babysit their kids, and they didn't seem to care that much( despite the fact I accidentally jumped on their heads a few times). Then, when I came back to the main area, the little kids had become those red clouds again due to the level's sprite data being different! Fortunately, they were still just as cheery as ever, and they didn't even seem to notice they had been turned into mist. Once I got them home( off-camera), they were turned back to normal, thankfully.
I actually planned to have more of a story to this video. "I was playing the game but a door appeared in 1-1, I went in and it led to a strange room with a golden egg in it!" I ditched it for obvious reasons. I was also planning on changing the level palette, but then realized it wouldn't look like 1-1 anymore, so that was scrapped too. Maybe in my next video, I'll see what happens when bosses enter 1-1. Or maybe I'll try making everyone a popsicle! ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDsxDT_WY80
