Why is Privacy Important?

If you are not a thief, why should you care about privacy? You should care because all of our freedoms are based on privacy. Once we no longer have privacy, all other freedoms will fall away.

And currently, moving into a more cashless society, the governments will have increasing power of just disconnecting us financially from the world. Now it may be that we do not have right to send donations to Wikileaks. But soon we may loose all rights.
