How to make text stand out using Gimp

Here is a very basic way to make your text stand out using Gimp. There is also a tutorial on how to increase the boundary size if you have part of your text cut off whilst creating the border around the text. Creating a border around text can really make your text stand out especially if you are creating thumbnails. This is a tutorial aimed at beginners who want to learn the basics of Gimp.
