Log Amplifiers - Theory of operation

In this video I show the theory of operation of logarithm amplifiers made by cascades of linear clipping amplifiers.

Log amplifiers are important in spectrum analyzers, radar systems, echo detection and small signal characterization.

I think this topology is very clever and I would like to try to make a log amplifier using 6 inverters gates of a CMOS 74HC04 package.
