'Black Shadow' hackers leak data from Israeli LGBT app
After a 48-hour ransom deadline passed without payment, a hacking organization has carried out its promise to leak data.
After an attack on Israeli web hosting provider Cyberserve in which they stole data from, among other things, the homosexual dating service Atraf, Black Shadow sought $1 million.
The group posted an update on their Telegram channel after the ransom demand was not met, announcing the leak and promised more.
Despite the fact that the group claims to have the personal information of at least a million people, Cyberserve and authorities have decided not to comply with their demands, instead beefing up their security and advising anyone who may have been affected to change their login details, with a hotline set up to handle any issues.
Black Shadow is responsible also for previous attacks on Israeli vehicle insurance company Shirbit.
According to a 2020 survey, Israeli companies paid over $1 billion in ransom to hackers in 2020, with the sum anticipated to rise in 2021.
